ABSTRACT

A laryngocele is an air filled dilatation of the saccule of the larynx. An infected laryngocele is called a laryngopyocele. The etiology is unknown but it might be related to both congenital and acquired factors. These lesions are usually asymptomatic and are incidentally discovered during radiologic studies for unrelated conditions. Symptomatic laryngoceles are unusual lesions. A case of laryngopyocele presenting with an upper airway obstruction is discussed with a review of the anatomy, etiology, clinical course and the management.

ÖZET

Larengosel, larenks sakkülünün içi hava ile dolu dilatasyonu-dur. infekte larengosel, larengopiyosel olarak adlandırılmaktadır. Etyolojisi bilinmemektedir, fakat hem konjenital hem de edinsel faktörler ile ilişkisi olabilir. Bu yapılar asemptomatiktir ve başka nedenlerle yapılan radyolojik incelemelerde tesadüfen saptanır. Semptomatik larengoseller nadir lezyonlardır. Üst hava yolu obstrüksiyonu ile başvuran bir larengopiyosel olgusu, bu lezyonun anatomisi, etiyoloji, klinik seyri ve tedavisi gözden geçirilerek tartışıldı.
