Oncocytomas are rare tumors of head and neck region. They commonly originate from salivary glands, especially the parotid gland. Typically, their clinical presentation is a slow-growing mass in elderly. They may have malignancy potential with regard to their site of origin and they may point out an underlying metabolic or respiratory disorder. Surgical excision constitutes the main method of treatment. In this case report, a patient who underwent surgery for the preliminary diagnosis of neck mass located between parotid tail and submandibular gland is presented. The tumor was histopathologically reported to be an oncocytoma. The clinical features, histopathologic properties and treatment principles of the disease are discussed.

ÖZET

Onkositomlar, baş-boyun bölgesinin seyrek görülen tümörleridir. Daha çok tükürük bezlerinden ve özellikle parotisten köken alırlar. Tipik olarak yaşlı hastalarda yavaş büyüyen bir kitle olarak karşımıza çıkarlar. Orijin aldıkları bölgeye göre malign potansiyel taşıyabilen onkositomlar altta yatan bir metabolik veya respiratuvar bozukluğa işaret edebilirler. Tedavisi cerrahi eksizyondur. Boyunda parotis kuyruğu ile submandibüler bez arasında boyun kitlesi ön tanısıyla ope-re ettiğimiz olguda histopatolojik tanı onkositom olarak bildirilmiştir. Hastalığın klinik, histopatolojik ve tedavisi ile ilgili özellikleri sunulmuştur.
