Schwannoma is a peripheral nerve sheath tumor which affects the larynx rarely. This tumor is most commonly located in the head and neck region. In this article we report a patient presenting with the complaint of hoarseness of 5-6 months duration in whom a mass was detected in the interarytenoid region at indirect laryngoscopy. An excisional biopsy was performed with microsurgical technique after which the tumor was histopathologically diagnosed to be a Schwannoma. Additionally, we discuss the clinical and histopathological features and current treatment approaches of the laryngeal Schwannoma.
ÖZET
Schwannom larenksi nadiren tutan bir periferik sinir kılıfı tümörüdür. Vücutta en sık baş ve boyun bölgesinde bulunur. Bu makalede beş-altı aydır devam eden ses kısıklığı şikayeti ile kliniğimize başvuran, indirekt larengoskopide larenkste interari-tenoid bölgede kitle tespit edilen, mikrolarengeal cerrahi ile eksizyonel biyopsi uygulanan ve histopatolojik inceleme sonucunda Schwannom tespit edilen bir vaka sunulmuştur. Ayrıca larengeal Schwannomun klinik ve histopatolojik özellikleri, buna ilave olarak bu tümöre güncel tedavi yaklaşımları tartışılmıştır.
