The developmental anomalies of the branchial cysts or clefts may take the form of either a cyst, sinus or fistula. Although this is a common condition seen in ear-nose-throat practice we wanted to report a branchial cyst case, since the lesion was big in size and causing neurological findings. The cervical computerized tomography of this case who had a swelling on the right side of the neck and pain and numbness on the right upper extremity revealed a multiloculated, cystic and hypodance mass causing shift of the larynx. During the postoperative period following the removal of the mass an improvement of the upper extremity findings was observed and the lesion did not show any recurrence. Here we also discuss about the prevalence of cleft anomalies, its symptoms, diagnostic methods, its differential diagnosis and operative procedures.

ÖZET

Brankial kese ve yarıkların anormal gelişimi kist, sinüs veya fis-tül şeklinde sonuçlanabilir. KBB pratiğinde sık rastlanmasına rağmen oldukça büyük olması ve nörolojik bulgu vermesi nedeniyle bir adet brankial kist vakası yayınlıyoruz. Boyun sağ tarafta şişlik, sağ kolda ağrı ve uyuşma şikayeti olan bu vakanın boyun bilgisayarlı tomografisinde sağ juguler vende kompresyon, larinkste itilmeye sebep olan multilokule kistik/hipodens kitle mevcuttu. Kitle ekstirpasyonu sonrası postoperatif dönemde üst ekstremite bulgularında düzelme gözlendi ve herhangi bir nüks oluşumuna rastlanmadı. Bu vesileyle brankial yarık anomalilerinin sıklığı, semptomları, tanı yöntemleri, ayırıcı tanısı ve operatif prosedürleri gözden geçirildi.
