Mucoceles are slowly expanding, chronic, cystic lesions. They are caused by obstruction of the sinus ostea, however etiology is not clear. The majority of the cases occur in the frontal sinus followed by the ethmoid, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. The clinical appearance of the mucoceles depends on their anatomical sites and pressure to the surrounding structures. Computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are helpful for analysis of the lesion. Surgical management of mucoceles can vary from marsupialization to radical procedures such as complete removal of the mucocele and obliteration of the sinus. We report in this paper the two cases of ethmoid sinus mucocele with orbital involvement and our endoscopic treatment approach.

ÖZET

Mukoseller, paranazal sinüslerde yavaş büyüyen kronik, kistik lezyonlardır. Sinüs ostiumunun tıkanması sonucu oluşur, ancak mukosel gelişiminin etyolojisi kesin olarak saptanamamıştır. Olguların çoğu frontal sinüste görülür. Bunu etmoid, mak-siller ve daha nadiren de sfenoid sinüs izler. Mukosel kaynaklandığı bölgeye ve etraf dokulara olan bası derecesine göre değişebilen semptom ve bulgulara neden olabilir. Lezyonun analizi için bilgisayarlı tomografi ve manyetik rezonans yardımcıdır. Cerrahi tedavi, olguya göre basit cerrahi marsüpiyalizas-yondan, mukoselin komplet olarak çıkarılması ve sinüsün obli-terasyonu gibi radikal operasyonlara kadar değişebilir. Orbital semptomlara yol açan etmoid sinus kaynaklı iki mukosel olgusu ve endoskopik tedavi yaklaşımımız sunulmuştur.
