The complications of tonsillectomy are most common due to the surgical procedures or the anesthetic managements. The anatomic localization and the potential complications of the surgical procedure shall keep the surgeons away from underestimation. Local tonsillectomy is usually preferred as it is performed in a short time and as it has minimum risk carried out with anesthetic management. Serious complications can rarely be seen after local tonsillectomy. In this case unilateral pulmonary atelectasis was the result of the coagulum that obstructed the airway. It was diagnosed and treated medically and the patient was discharged without any complication.
ÖZET
Tonsillektomi komplikasyonları genellikle cerrahi veya anesteziye bağlı oluşmaktadır. işlem yapılan bölgenin lokalizasyonundan ve olası komplikasyonlarından ötürü tonsillektomi asla küçümsenmemesi gereken bir ameliyattır. Genel veya lokal anestezi altında yapılabilen tonsillektomi, zaman zaman erişkin hastalarda işlemin kısa süreli oluşu ve genel anesteziye bağlı komplikasyonların olmaması nedeniyle lokal anestezi altında tercih edilmektedir. Nadir de olsa lokal anestezi altında yapılan tonsillektomi sonrası ciddi komplikasyonlar gelişebilir. Kliniğimizde lokal anestezi altında tonsillektomi operasyonu yapılan bir hastada, postoperatif dönemde bronşial sistemde koagulum obstrüksiyonuna bağlı tek taraflı akciğer atelektazisi gelişmiştir. Komplikasyon gelişiminden çok kısa bir süre sonra tanısı konularak tedavisi yapılan hasta sorunsuz olarak taburcu edilmiştir.
