The patient with facial paralysis experiences a very severe functional and cosmetic deformity. The treatment of facial paralysis includes early and late reconstruction. Late reconstruction is achieved with static sling, dynamic sling, free muscle transfer, and oral, ocular sphincter reconstruction. The static methods of reconstruction of the paralyzed face are well known techniques of suspension with autologous material and synthetic materials. Face lifting and stabilization with dermal flaps have been used. We reported two cases of facial paralysis that were performed by static sling with mesh polypropylene. With this method, we observed that ocular correction couldn’t be provided, but satisfactory results can be obtained with correction of commissure and reduction of buccal ptozis.

ÖZET

Fasyal sinir paralizisi, kişilerde ağır kozmetik ve fonksiyonel de-formitelere neden olabilen bir hastalıktır. Fasyal paralizide tedavi erken ve geç dönem olmak üzere iki şekilde yapılmaktadır. Geç dönem tedavide statik askılama, dinamik askılama, serbest kas transferi ve oral, oküler sfinkter rekonstrüksiyonu bulunmaktadır. Statik yöntemler içinde otolog ve sentetik materyallerle askılama, yüz germe ve dermal fleplerle stabilizasyon yer almaktadır. Kliniğimizde fasyal paralizisi mevcut iki hastada mesh polipropilen ile statik askılama yöntemini uyguladık. Tedavi sonucu olarak oküler rekonstrüksiyonda yeterli düzeltme sağlamadığı, oral komissür pozisyonunda düzelme, yanak pito-zisinde azalma ve dış görünüşünde eskisine göre kabul edilebilir düzelmeler elde edildiği görüldü. Fasyal paralizi cerrahi tedavisinde mesh polipropilen statik yöntemlerin endike olduğu durumlarda kullanılabilecek bir materyaldir.
