Malignant Tumors of the Salivary Glands

In this article retrospective follow up of the 28 patients who were operated in Istanbul University, Cerrahpafla Medical Faculty ENT department due to malignant salivary gland tumors between the years 1994-2001. Fifty-seven percent of the patients were female and fortythree percent of them were male, ages ranging between 45 and 65 averaging 55.4. Histopathologically the most frequent tumor was adenocystic carcinoma followed by malignant mixed tumor and the most frequent site was parotis gland. Fourteen of the patients were applied total parotidectomy, 5 of them superficial parotidectomy, 3 of them palatine resection, 2 of the patients resection of floor of the mouth and 4 had submandibular gland resection. During the first operation 5 patients had radical neck dissection and 8 of them had functional neck dissection. Postoperatively 25 of the patients had radiotherapy.

ÖZET

Bu çalışmada 1994-2002 yılları arasında İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Kulak Burun Boğaz Anabilim Dalı'nda tükürük bezi kaynaklı habis tümör sebebi ile opere edilmiş 28 olgunun retrospektif incelenmesi yapılmış, takip sonuçları ve tedavi ilkeleri tartışılmıştır. Olguların %57'si (16 olgu) kadın, %43'ü (12 olgu) erkektir ve yaşları 45 ile 65 arasında olup ortalaması 55.4'tür. Histopatolojik olarak en sık rastladığımız tip adenokistik karsinomdu ve en sık yerleşim bölgesi parotis beziydi. Hastaların 14'üne total parotidektomi, 5'ine superfisiyel parotidektomi, 4'üne submandibüler gland rezeksiyonu, 3'üne damak rezeksiyonu ve 2 hastaya da ağız tabanı rezeksiyonu uygulandı. ilk operasyon sırasında 5 hastaya radikal boyun dissek-siyonu, 8 hastaya da fonksiyonel boyun disseksiyonu uygulandı. Çalışmaya alınan hastaların 25 tanesine de postoperatif radyoterapi uygulandı.
